Highlights: Visit spectacular natural locations such as Khuvsgul Lake and the Taiga. Meet the yak herder family and milk yak at Tsagaan Nuur. Have fun with Tsaatan (reindeer herders) and Darkhad people. Build and stay in “Urts,” a traditional teepee-like dwelling. Play a traditional game called “shagai.” Ride horses and reindeer.

Itinerary
Day 1: Domestic flight from Ulaanbaatar to Murun Province
Our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and drive to the village of Khatgal on the south end of the lake. We will stay in Khatgal or in a ger camp on the edge of the lake.

Day 2: Visitation of local herders in Tsagaan Nuur /350 km/
We will eat breakfast and climb to the top of the mountain to see all of Khuvsgul Lake, then we will drive to Tsagaan Nuur town and see local herders. Then we will stay in a ger guest house in Tsagaan nuur.

Day 3: Introduction to the Reindeer People
We’ll have breakfast and then hike and ride horses on the mountains of Taiga totaling almost 20 km. We will visit a reindeer family who lives in the Darkhad valley. After traveling for 3-4 hours we will rest and build our tent next to the reindeer family’s Urts.

Day 4-6: Donation of salt and minerals to Reindeer families
During these days we will follow these reindeer herders from sunrise to sunset to experience their lifestyle. We will take in the scenery of the Taiga Mountains and lake on horseback and on foot. Donate salt and minerals to the families.

Day 7: Taiga to Tsagaan Nuur
After breakfast we will give thanks to the reindeer family and leave on horseback. Meet up with our driver and go back to Tsagaan Nuur.

Day 8: Tsagaan Nuur Lake to Murun City
After breakfast drive back to Murun. The drive will take about 10 hours and we’ll stay in a hotel there.

Fly back to Ulaanbaatar after breakfast and once we arrive there you will be brought to your hotel.
